The paint mixing machine in my favourite DIY store was fixed yeasterday, so painting the bedroom is well underway. Busted

My attempt to buy paint for the bedroom ended in miserable failiure today. When I got to the store there was a guy up to his waist inside the mixer, and complaining he lacked a crucial spare part. Let's see if he's got it working by tomorrow.

Empty White Room

Empty White Room
Originally uploaded by Rollofunk
Finally got the groundwork done in the bedroom. From now on I'll only be adding stuff for looks, not for any structural purposes.

A brief summry of what's been done:
-Old fibreglass weave wallpapers torn down.
-Old layers of paint scraped off the ceiling and walls
-Old wood imitation floor torn out
-heavy duty plaster applied to big holes (there were a few)
-Walls and ceiling covered in fine plaster
-Everything smoothed down with a random-orbit sander
-2-3 layers of white primer applied to walls and ceiling.

Remaining:
-Painting ceiling and walls
-Putting up wallpaper on one wall
-Laying down the new floor
-Re-painting doors and window frames

Overall much less rattling around and less noisy compared to the current low-riders, but the interior needs work: There are surprisingly few seats for the size, and still some of them have seriously cramped leg room. Another issue is was the lack of vertical rails to hold on to. And if they redo the interior they might just as well fix the outside looks as well.

Old Floor and Older Floor

Old Floor and Older Floor

Finally got around to tearing away the wood imitation floor panels in the bedroom. Too bad the original plank floor underneath is in such a bad shape. It could have looked nice fixed up, but that would have required custom making new planks to replace the worst ones. Easier to put a new wood floor on top of it.

And the chocolates were good too.

I guess I'll keep using both, depending on need, mood, weather, planetary alignment and sunspot activity...

A not so early start tomorrow, for a change. Flight to Oslo at 11:40, and then continuing to Bergen to conduct a focus group interview session, in Norwegian apparently...

Thats still the old floor, by the way.
