An energy saver lightbulb: Buying it makes you feel all good and caring. Saving mother earth one little step at a time, and stuff like that. All good, until you consider:
-Unproportionally big plastic package compared to the product. You can transport more regular bulbs in regular square boxes, so this has a bigger ecological impact throughout the logistics chain and final disposal.
-You need to cut the package to remove the product, leaving the paper inside behind sharp plastic edges, should you want to dispose it separately.
-Will you ever have the same light for ten years?
And yes, I bought it and feel very much like a tree hugger, thank you very much.

Green Wall
Lobby of the conference floor at Hotel Rica Talk, Stockholm. The wall was some kind of felt, with irrigation channels behind, appearently. Gave the room a nice greenhouse smell, and beats potted plants hands down in wow-factor.
Slim
The A320 we flew to Stockholm yesterday had been refitted with new Recaro slim seats, giving surprisingly much legroom. Comfort seemed good as well, though it's hard to say for sure on just a short 50 minute hop.

We Have Power
Been so busy coming to terms with having two liveable rooms again that I haven't been posting anything for a week, apparently.
managed to spend quite some time in trains too during the weekend. Don't know if it's a new feature or what, but the IC2 car I boarded last had power sockets for every seat in sight, at least. Now that's serious progress, if they standardize it.

The Bedroom is Back
Took me all day, but got the wallpaper up and the new floor done. Still a lot of small stuff left to do, but basically it's inhabitable again.

Prepared
The paint mixing machine in my favourite DIY store was fixed yeasterday, so painting the bedroom is well underway. Found a good use for all the advertisements they keep pushing in the mailbox in maskin the line between the white ceiling and light mocha walls. Physical spam is better than digital in that respect.

Busted
My attempt to buy paint for the bedroom ended in miserable failiure today. When I got to the store there was a guy up to his waist inside the mixer, and complaining he lacked a crucial spare part. Let's see if he's got it working by tomorrow.

Empty White Room
Finally got the groundwork done in the bedroom. From now on I'll only be adding stuff for looks, not for any structural purposes.
A brief summry of what's been done:
-Old fibreglass weave wallpapers torn down.
-Old layers of paint scraped off the ceiling and walls
-Old wood imitation floor torn out
-heavy duty plaster applied to big holes (there were a few)
-Walls and ceiling covered in fine plaster
-Everything smoothed down with a random-orbit sander
-2-3 layers of white primer applied to walls and ceiling.
Remaining:
-Painting ceiling and walls
-Putting up wallpaper on one wall
-Laying down the new floor
-Re-painting doors and window frames

Croatian Blue
The new breed of easy entry tram that's on trial on a few routes now. Overall much less rattling around and less noisy compared to the current low-riders, but the interior needs work: There are surprisingly few seats for the size, and still some of them have seriously cramped leg room. Another issue is was the lack of vertical rails to hold on to. And if they redo the interior they might just as well fix the outside looks as well.

Old Floor and Older Floor
Finally got around to tearing away the wood imitation floor panels in the bedroom. Too bad the original plank floor underneath is in such a bad shape. It could have looked nice fixed up, but that would have required custom making new planks to replace the worst ones. Easier to put a new wood floor on top of it.
