Happy New Year
Chinese new year. I guess the feeling was authentically Chinese: Crowded, noisy, and kind of plasticky and cheap (no offense). The fireworks rocked, though, as they should. Not quite Beijing olympics -level, sans CG, but still.

Trust
The place where I get my cofee some mornings, a cafe run by some middle eastern dudes in the station west wing, has a nice feature: If the guys happen to be out, just leave the money on a worn paper plate and help yourself. It's not as if they'd lose big money if someone cheats, and the positive trust here is great branding.
Public Interface
You need a big hand to operate the trackball and buttons In a standard mouse-like fashion, but maybe that's a small price to pay for seemingly public-proof design. How long will it take for trackpads to become common enough that nobody cares for using interfaces in a mouse-like fashion anymore? And when will trackpads be as sturdy as this?

Caravan09
A day spent rummaging through camper vans in the fair center with a future (not camper van related) design project in mind. The main thing to note was the surprising similarity in mechanical solutions, materials and overall design among the manufacturers. Someone with more experience might pick out subtle differences, but to me it was close to impossible to tell two interiors apart. Of course an increase in price got you more space and a cooler bathroom, but still the imitation wood panels stayed.

Trend Briefing
Spent a few hours listening to trend predictions up until summer 2010, held by some dude from Carlin International. Not too bad, even it was a bit fashion oriented at some points. The audience was mostly fashion people, which always is a bit of a spooky crowd to hang out in (no offence intended).
As for the trends, as it was work time and work money I can't say much. Guess you'll just have to wait and see.

Good Intent
A handicapped space in an old skool commuter train. Looks good, until you remember there's serious stairs to get up into the wagon. Maybe it's only for wheelchair users with a posse?

Back In Time
Nicely restored turn of the 50's and 60's corporate space downtown. You could expect to see Sean Connery as James Bond around.

Ice Day
Perfect day for skating on the sea ice. Also allowing for handy shortcuts and island hopping for those of us without touring skates.
