Or at least very near to one. Again.
Or maybe it's just a very elaborate practical joke for somebody living on the bottom floor?

Living In a Movie Set
Table View
Table View, originally uploaded by Rollofunk.
Lot's of people say they like to sit down for a coffee and look at people going by, so here's a snip for all the busy people who didn't have time for that today.
Music by the amazing Black Bottom Brass Band.

Past Infrastructure
Old railroad trench. Would make a good cycling lane, or park, or very long swimming pool doubling as ice skating track in winter.

Product Design Gala 2009
Spent the afternoon at Design Factory in Otaniemi at the 2009 PDP gala. More on the what and why at www.pdp.fi
Basically it's about interdisciplinary product development projects done by students for real world companies. Quite a few of our clients were involved. Themes reached between projects that were seemingly thought up on the walk from the coffee machine back to the desk on one hand, and some very clever, useful and developable product concepts on the other. The displays were all decently made, and it's always fun to speak with eager students who are full of new unconstrained ideas.
Context
Think golf, think driving up to the club house in your Audi or Volvo. Then again, why not take commuter train line M to get there? That's the nordic equality ideal, I guess.

Report: Done
Morning of slight terror. 30 minutes before the presentation starts over at the client's main office our printer messes up the report, which got finished 5 minutes earlier (planning ahead? Why bother?).
Somehow, someway, a successful presentation and a pleased crowd on the other side of the table made the rest of the day much better.

Far East
Final day of on-site interviews done. Today it was way east, almost as far as the orange thing would take us.
Wheelchair Trap
I wouldn't like to try getting out this place in a wheelchair even if the door was automatic (which it isn't). A pretty though slope to get up unassisted as well, I guess.

Friendly Natives
Spent a big part of today out in Kerava doing user interviews. Slow-moving, unhurried place, and an amazing 100% answer rate from the passersby we stopped. No chance to get that downtown.

Fitting
Our local Metro is a natural for advertising orange coloured stuff.
From today everything will hopefully be a little bigger (but not necessarily better) than before.

Apparently it pays well to be a fish in a fishpond. They don't need our meager handouts.

Bad cables on the JBL's mean they need to be supported on the table behind the subwoofer these days, instead of hangin freely out behind like before.

Out of Office, Again
Out of Office, Again
Originally uploaded by Rollofunk
Most of the day hanging around in Kamppi. A few more ad-hoc interviews, and finally getting to sum up all the data gathered so far. About time, since I should start typing the report on all this next week.

You can see when the buses are leaving on the screen, and the people who sit and wait can't make the regular excuse of being busy since we both know their bus is leaving after 23 minutes. Actually people are surprisingly talkative and give good opinions once they get to know we aren't selling them anything and we don't want their names or contact information. Some feel it's flattering to get to give opinions on a new product's deisign and usability, it seems. Makes my job so much easier.
