If You Can't Go to the Wally...
...Then let the Wally come to you.
Took a walk last night despite having a bit of a cold, and brought the GF1 with a 14-45 attached to see if I could catch the Wally docked out in the bay a bit better than with the phone. Turns out the big boat had just got under way, and was gliding in towards the market square, right past the shore where I was standing. It's all about timing.

Wally Yacht Spotted
The N8 isn't much of a paparazzi tool, but I'm pretty sure that gray blob in the picture is an authentic Wally yacht: Huge, luxurious, sleek and stealthy. It's anchored in a spot pretty far away from any public shoreline, where the really wealthy usually anchor when visiting Helsinki.

LINK Sailing Day 21.6.
Naturally lot's of Pirates of the Caribbean quotes being thrown about too, with the occasional one from Master and Commander and a few good-natured "hello sailor"s.
LINK Sailing Day 21.6.
An evening spent sailing with colleagues last Tuesday. Good wind, good food and drink and good fun, resulting in a slightly sore throat (which is getting better now).

Head Start
Spotted one of these new bike friendly solutions downtown yesterday. Basically, it's a priority area for bikes, allowing them to get a head start out of the red lights. Makes sense, as bikes often are faster accelerators then cars over the first 15-30 meters from a standing start.

Marimekko For Japan
Profits for a special edition bag going directly to Tohoku. A bit odd solution with the message, though.

Early Bird
The start of an 18 hour workshop day yesterday. Waiting in the 06:20 plane to Oulu for a tractor to push us from the gate. A lot of good ideas happened once there. Maybe we'll get to realize them in autumn.

Urban Picnic
Apparently this small stretch of street between the northern and southern Esplanade here in Helsinki is the only city street without a name. To honour this it had been turned into a lush picnic spot for the weekend to celebrate today's Helsinki Day. Don't think anyone minded, as it isn't a vital route in any way.

Planning
Might find myself in a tent somewhere up in Lapland a few days after returning from Tokyo. Going to be a bit of a contrast in scenery at least.
Luxury Birdseed
Someone's spoiling our feathery friends. But do they really notice the difference, or is it just the package that makes this product luxury?

Rugged
Orange-black, angular design, lot's of electronics, Russian, BIG. That's five points needed for a rugged design.
