Essentials

Essentials, originally uploaded by Rollofunk.

Gaiters and snowshoes. The gaiters are nearing the end of their useful life, though, so need to start looking for new ones soon. The snowshoes were near perfect for today's snow conditions, once I got the hang of walking with them again after about five years. Always knew it was worth keeping them.

I can recommend the Mountain Laurel Designs eVent snow gaiters, used them on a few trips and day walks and am very happy with them. And at 73 g a great weight!

Thank's, I should check those out. My main concern with gaiters is always the strap that goes under the shoe, as I like to use them in wet conditions year around, and sharp rocks can chew through it pretty soon. Then again, these current Isuka branded things which I bought in Japan 8 years ago only have an elastic cord for strap, and it's still intact. It's the other parts which are showing the wear and tear.
